How to get to Fuerteventura from Italy: flights and tips

Fuerteventura is the island of beaches: kilometres of golden sand, the Corralejo dunes, turquoise water and the perfect wind conditions for surfing and kiting. It's the closest to Africa and the second largest of the Canaries. Getting there from Italy is possible, often with seasonal flights. Here's how.

Fuerteventura's airport

Fuerteventura has a single airport: Fuerteventura — El Matorral (FUE), near the capital Puerto del Rosario, on the east coast. From here you reach the main tourist areas:

  • Caleta de Fuste: 10 minutes.
  • Corralejo (north, dunes and ferries to Lanzarote): 40 minutes.
  • Costa Calma / Jandía (south, big beaches): 45–60 minutes.

Where you depart from in Italy

Direct connections from Italy to Fuerteventura are largely seasonal (mainly winter). Depending on the period you'll find direct or seasonal flights from:

  • Milan (Malpensa and Bergamo)
  • Rome (Fiumicino)
  • Bologna and Verona (seasonal)
